Eungella Mountain

Eungella National Park is about 80K west of Mackay. Eungella (pronounced yung-gal-a) is an aboriginal word meaning ‘land in the clouds’ and is up the range at a height of 800m. It has a high annual rainfall and is covered in dense rainforest. Eungella, despite being in the tropics, is noted for its lovely cool temperatures. Our walk was in the National Park, but we camped at a private campground at the edge of the township of Eungella.
